An show that is a culmination of 10 weeks of learning, creating, and sharing of my ideas, experiments and all that I have learned and developed as the artist-in-residence at CreativeLive.

So while I am working on art for the final show (see more about it below!) I have been watching classes as I work. There are two classes in particular that have been so amazingly informative and helpful that I have to tell you about them. The first is Marketing for Crafters with Tara Swiger. The class is just full of gems of information on how to look at your marketing and really make it something that will make your business work for you. I especially like that it is framed from the perspective of a crafter as you sometimes hit different obstacles with your marketing than other businesses, such as what "need" your filling for people and where you fit in the market.

The second is Sell Your Products to Retailers with Megan Auman. This class is so full of good info that will totally change the way you think about wholesale. I am now considering it where in the past I just thought it would be way too much work for no money.

 About Milieu.

Milieu definition is as a person’s social environment. I used this as a starting point to explore what composes and forms ones community in our rapidly changing world. I explored this notion through sculpture, illustrations and prints on fabric which will all be on display in the CreativeLive offices on Thursday, August 14.

About The CreativeLive Artist-In-Residence Program

CreativeLive launched the artist-in-residence program in June 2014, connecting a promising local artist with extensive resources for helping independent entrepreneurs grow their businesses.

I was given unlimited access to the CreativeLive catalog of 600+ courses, as well as a dedicated work space in the San Francisco offices. I had a sun filled workroom (which I will really miss!) where I was able to sketch my ideas, adding new work to the walls, and connecting with staff who were always excited to hear about my process. As someone who often works alone, it was great to feel part of something bigger and be able to contribute to it with my work.

If you want to join the CreativeLive audience (I highly recommend it), visit https://www.creativelive.com/front-row.
